Start Of My 1.8l Turbo System

I told you i get it and if you push the sonic that far it will be amazing to be honest i want like 250whp i want 50 mpg i get 42 now and so a turbo tune and a few other things will help i have my cold air any way i under stand and I'll still be around because when you do it witch im fairly confident you will if be happy to see it i don't want that extreme but to beat a colbalt as or this ******* at my collage that drives an ion redline with an e85 tune and bigger supercharger he says (ya i beat the new corvette) ya bull **** any way also if you get it done ill cover your gas if u race him lol you could even race for pinks thats how ****y he is free car broski i know it may be a long time but i got time and if you figure out the routing for the pipes push like 15psi if stock internals can handle it let me know thats where I'd be happy i have faith and its a dream i won't let die even if i have to take it to GM and drop 5k and say build it for me lol

One question i was gonna get an exhaust for my 1.8 sedan if some one did make a turbo and i bought an aftermarket exhaust would i have to change it for the turbo kit? I know it sounds weird i can re word it if you need me to

As we all know there are few cars that can beat a new Vette, which is kind of interesting in it self.

At least if we are talking about the 650HP one.

Ya but at least i read prior parts to the thread instead of jumping in he just explained that he needed an engine then u step in saying so let's see some pics of what if he hadn't started yet? Just because I'm not all about high performance doesn't mean I'm not willing to ask questions i know a turbo requires a new exhaust but my question was if i bought an after market exhaust before the turbo then the kit comes out would i need to replace it all or just adjust it twords the engine by the manifold

Man I hate to be "that guy" but punctuation would make the world of difference in your posts as far as understanding what you're saying. Would also help in getting other people to actually read it instead of skipping over a huge wall of text.

That being said if someone told me a Saturn Ion beat a new Vette even with a larger supercharger they would have to have video proof or get laughed at.

You need to get your basics down and then we can start talkin.

Ok so i have yet to sleep iv been doing a lot of research lol

quick questions after you forge everything how much hp do you think the transmission can handle?

Also how would you change the compression ratio from a 10.5:1 to around a 9.0:1?

Forged internals arent exactly neccesary. Depends on what your goals are.

Trans.... the 6t30.... not much
35 not much
Mz0 and m32... ask preloader cuz that man is shelling em off low power. And thats not an insult to him by any means. The mans car is gorgeous and his mechanical knowledge is deep... truth be told however. Hes getting to that point where the transmissions arent holding up. If he didnt have that issue and could build freely and build a new block or a nicer head and cam and such. It could go further.

The transmissions wont hold much. We will have to find a way to make a 6t70 fit with a midplate or simply get a trans out of a totally different car to completely fab mounts for...

Or. We need one off machined gears that are hardened and built from incredibly strong metals(a few options there) and basically its all custom

Axles will go shortly after that. However there is a few manufacturers that will make a custom set. thats not that big of a deal. Its an axle. Not complicated like a trans.

Cr will be based on how much you want to boost and end hp goals.

Well turbo engines are lower compression ratio stock. thats why i was wondering if we could change that before hand some way.

Also i was only looming for around 12psi boost. Still a daily driver just want to beat all the 1.4s and have more fun.

Finally as for the trans holding 12 psi thats only with our compression ratio the way it is is like what 35hp.

I mean maybe later i may end up trying to push 30psi after i have the money to do full rebuild you know but as of now like 12 to 14 psi like the 1.4l engines

Another thing that worries me is the intake manifold and how much that heat treated plastic can handle

Not necessarily true.

Back in the 80s-90s it was common for N/A engines to run 8:1 or 9.5:1 compression. Many turbocharged engines these days are running 9.5-10.5:1 compression.

Our 1931 Ford model A I maintain at work is 4:1 and that's N/A as well.

The 1.4l is 9.5:1 im just going off of the 8.0:1 = 1psi = 10hp its just more effective off what iv read up on gives more hp for what its worth

You have MUCH to learn Scott, much to learn. Compression ratio has nothing to do with the numbers you are looking at. I would have more concern about KR, my bottom end and my pistons when talking about compression ratios.

1psi = 10hp is rarely the case either. 8-12hp is a decent figure, but not always correct.

The reason I'm staying out of the 1.4T and the 1.8T stuff is I've been down this road before, and it gets very expensive. I went through three 41TE transmissions in my PT Cruiser and the 4th was on it's way out with less than 50k miles, I don't want those headaches again. Granted, that little 2.4l got me well over 400whp but still lol.

I think the drivetrain is what's going to bring this project to a grinding hault to be honest. Much respect to the gentlemen who make it work somehow, I'll keep watching this thread for updates. Good luck guys
