Stability Control Light & ABS Light Issue

So I installed a set of eibachs about 2 weeks ago. I did the fronts, dropped the car down and turned the key (was turning it around to put the back end into the shade) and noticed that both the stability control and abs lights were on. I just attributed it to a fluke at the time, so I continued and changed out the rear springs as well. When I was done the lights were still on. Took it for a drive, poked around in the wheel wells for a couple mins and the lights went off, so again I assumed it was a fluke.

Now just a couple of days ago the 2 lights started going on and off intermittently (seemed to happen when I was hitting nasty bumps, but that could have been my imagination). As of yesterday the lights have stayed on consistently. It seems like a faulty or loose connection on a sensor to me because it was happening intermittently. Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong? Could it possible be an alignment issue because I haven't had an alignment since installing the eibachs.

I know there are a couple other threads about the stability control light staying on, but none were terribly conclusive and many didn't also experience the abs issue like I am. I am hoping my specific situation can help narrow the problem down. Thanks!

I would pull each wheel and inspect the ABS lines from the hub all the way up into the engine bay, either you have a loose connection, damaged cannon plug or a damaged wire (cut or stretched causing a short or break).

I'm unable to find anything visible. Alternatively, I notice that my steering wheel is off to the left when my car is going straight... could the steering wheel position sensor (assuming we have one) cause the stability control and abs lights to come on?

Yes we have one, and yes it can cause a light. Along with about 1000 other things. Get the abs computer scanned for codes. At least then you'll have an idea where to look.

Your scan or ultra gauge won't read that computer so instead of a trip to a dealership one could consider going to a reputable auto repair shop.

In the old days (Corvette C5) the steering angle sensor was part of the ABS and Traction Control system and since our systems are based on that technology, I guess the answer is: Yes.

Let's assume that's the issue... would that be something an alignment would fix?

I'm trying to weight taking the car for an alignment and see of that resolves the issue vs going back to stock and going to the dealer.

Since it started when you took the front springs and struts out, I would lean more towards a problem with one of the front wheel speed sensors. Did you unplug them when you did the springs? Did you leave them plugged in and stretch the wires, possibly pulling them slightly out of the connector? Is one of the wires routed wrong around the strut and it's getting pinched?

Connection seemed good to me. I will check one more time. I didn't unplug them when I was installing the springs. As far as I can tell they aren't getting pinched and there's plenty of room there.

I scheduled an alignment for later this week to rule out alignment and steering wheel position issues. If that fails, I'll convert back to stock and go to the dealer. Just trying to avoid going there.

if you find out that it is something wrong with the wheel speed sensors, let me know.I have one from each wheel that i will let go cheap.

they are used but they were not the issue.
