Totaled by Sonic

One of the reasons I purchased my 2012 Sonic was all those air bags and the 5 star crash rating. I entered an intersection just under the posted 45 mph speed limit on a yellow light, and a full size Chevy pickup going the opposite direction decided to turn left in front of me. I only had time to swerve right slightly - impact was my LF corner with RF of his truck. I was alone in the Sonic, and I think 7 air bags went off. Other than a bit of seat belt bruising and a scrape on the back of my left hand (probably from an air bag), I had no injuries. Impact was enough to scramble my brain for a few minutes - called my wife to come get me and she told me that was the third time I had called her! I had 55,000 miles on my 2012, got a decent amount from State Farm and went back to my local Chevy dealer and got a great price on a 2014 LTZ 1.4 liter 6 spd. The impact was hard enough to destroy the truck's RF wheel area. I'm grateful to be alive, and very thankful for the safety design work that goes into these cars!

Good to hear that you're ok and that the Sonic protected you. The crash rating wasn't at the top of my list when I was shopping but I was glad it had the good rating it does.

Glad to hear you are okay! It is evident that the safety cage and airbags of the Sonic protected you. The Sonic has plenty of high strength Steel in all the right places, which contributes to the outstanding safety characteristics of these cars.

I drive my Sonic A LOT, and that was one of my biggest deciding factors in going with it over the others. I needed good fuel economy and safe, the rest of the great things are just gravy. I'm glad to hear that it did it's job.

This was a big thing for me too, especially coming from having my last car totaled. Best in class? Yes please. I need to keep the kids safe.

Sorry to hear of your accident. Another 3 year old Sonic with some real world miles put out to pasture. The car did its job and kept you safe...the most important quality in 4 wheeled transportation.
