kind of, but you may be protected under a recall if your out of warranty.

The water pump is covered for 10 years or a ridiculously high mileage, because GM found out that they tend to fail a lot. Just take it in and make sure that you mention that it is covered and that they're doing it for free. I took my car into the dealer three separate times (not for water pump) and I had to be very explicit about it being covered by GM's warranty. If you need the letter you can try google or I know somebody shared it with me on the 1.8 forum so look for something like "coolant leak" under the 1.8 forum.

I would however be sure to check everything really well and be sure that it actually is your water pump or you're gonna have a bad time going in for free service and then having to pay them for fixing something different. I know I had some coolant puddling near the oil pan and thought it was the water pump until I found out it somehow leaked all the way from the drivers side of the engine to the passengers side of the oil pan. So check everything really well.

Wait, what year is your car? The extended warranty is only for 2011 - 2014 Cruze/Sonic. If you bought your car new around September last year when you joined you're probably still covered by regular warranty unless you drive a lot.

Yeah it's a 2015 but I have a warranty plan that I pay for monthly
