Lowering Spring Issues

Well...where do I start

I ordered some lowering springs from zzp and they look amazing on my ‘16 LTZ Sedan. But my problem is that after about an hour today, I have this horrible front end “clunk” that increases with speed. I now know how fun it is to drive to work at 40mph with my hazards on. It seemed bad enough that I didn’t want to go very fast.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? I don’t see anything that could rub. I’m *mostly* certain everything is tightened down.

I’d say that something wasn’t put back together correctly. I’ve had ZZP springs and GMPP dampers on mine for a few thousand miles now. No noises out of the ordinary. Maybe check the plastic front sway bar endlinks first. That seems like a potential problem area. I’d go back and check every nut and bolt you touched though. Something isn’t right.

"Mostly" isn't good enough. Are your springs seated correctly? You replace the plastic sway bar links with solid ones? Did you preload the suspension when tightening the bolts?

Well, you're all going to hate me now. It was a simple thing, really. Apparently my lugnuts on the front driver's side weren't tight enough, and after about 20 miles they came loose. The sound was the wheel rocking back and forth [emoji51], definitely something I should have checked.

As for the solid end links, no, but those ate next on the list.

All the noise is good now, and what's left is an alignment since it pulls a bit to the left. Other than that luckily this was much better than it could have been.

Like Skurtov said, check spring position/seating. Check your top nut/hat. Also just because "Sonic" replace your endlinks. I went with racer X adjustable, but ZZP are good too.
