Thermostat dead again...bypass?

Is it possible to use a resistor or something to bypass the heating element in these thermostats? I am about to put my 4th one on in less than 2 years.

Have you been replacing them with a premium brand (GM,Motorad,Gates) part?

First time was AC Delco. Last few were Murray because they have been under warranty.

All of them have had "motorad" stamped on the casing as far as I can remember.

I just asked a friend that owns a garage and he said that the ac is the best...the above link is where I got mine

I thought Id add to this thread. I had replaced mine twice in two years.I got the infamous P0597 code come up on my cheapo amazon reader. I replaced the thermostat again? The heater must go "Kaput" Must be good quality heaters and bad ones. Guess my luck is bad??? Good for another two years I hope ha ha

This is correct Premium is the way to go

i have read there is a resistor you can use, i am currently trying to find that link.

are you replacing just the thermostat or the whole housing ? i have found it cheaper to replace the thermostat housing with the all metal housing , not the plastic one. and i could take a guess its the wiring not the actual thermostat, or it could be the coolant.
