Is a 2014 1.8L motor the same as a 2012

I have a chance to buy the 1.8L motor from a 2014 Sonic. My question is, is this the same as the 2012 1.8L motor?

From the picture, it looks like the oil filler is raised up on the 2014. If it will work, it might bring a dead Sonic back to life. Ours has been sitting on the driveway with a blown head gasket since Christmas. It has some good parts on it, like an aftermarket all metal thermostat housing, replacement oil cooler, plus a new radiator and headlamps.

Both the 2012 and 2014 Chevy Sonic 1.8L use the same LUW (Ecotec) engine family, so the long block is basically identical. The raised oil filler you noticed is just a minor design change (valve cover), not a deal breaker.
