Can't remove water pump pulley from engine bay!

Had this exact same problem when I did my timing belt 2 weeks ago. Its tight but do-able. You need to lift your engine substantially as well as rock it forwards and backwards. You can then get a gap to slip it fowards (towards the radiator). Its a pain, but take your time, it will come off.

    Engine ticking/rattling/squeaking

I would first start with cleaning that engine bay so that you can see whats happening. Your engine is also rocking forwards and backwards which means that its idling quite rough, with that mileage on your car, its hard to determine what it could be from that short video. The squeaking sounds...

    150000km / 93000 mile service

Been a while since I posted but thought I'd post on what all was done and how much money I saved. I am posting in the 1.8 forum however I have a 1.6. The engines are basically identical in every way other than capacity. 99% of parts are interchangeable between the 2 engines, F16D4 (1.6) and...

2015 Chevy Sonic RS with less than 30K miles has a drawn out squeak after engine shut off

Never rule out a new part. You'd be surprised how often new parts cause problems.

2015 Chevy Sonic RS with less than 30K miles has a drawn out squeak after engine shut off

It kind of sounds like a shot pulley. If possible, take the v-belt off and give each pulley a spin. It should spin freely, easily and smoothly. And grinding or wobble will cause that. Likely the idler puller because if you put your AC on, it adds strain on the belt which in turn strains the...

2015 Chevy Sonic RS with less than 30K miles has a drawn out squeak after engine shut off

Spray a bit of water on the v-belt (fan belt) and see if that stops it. If it does then your belt is worn and needs to be replaced

    DIY Headunit Upgrade

So just an update. Had to fight with Amazon, after 7 days they finally shipped my parcel the moment I threatened to cancel. Its expected to arrive on Wednesday. I should have a reverse camera arriving tomorrow. In the interim, I installed an old Targa 1800w (peak, not rms) Amp to run my...

    DIY Headunit Upgrade

Hey everyone So I've done a copious amount of reading through the forum and I've seen there isn't really a decent guide on how to install an aftermarket headunit. By that, I mean doing it the right way. This guide is mainly meant for those who are upgrading from the barebones stock radio. The...

    Cabin air filter ?

The forum isn't terribly active anymore and only a handful of us are active on here. I personally am off quite often as I travel around South Africa for business so I'm not always online. It is very simple and you'll be able to figure it out. On engine related topics and DIY's, the Sonic is...
