1.8 tune

So I wanna touch on a couple points

1) what are the gains of the tune on a 1.8?


2) who here has tuned the 1.8, and what where your results?

Noticed no real gain in power and lost 8-10% in economy. I did not have the time to log the tune and send it in due to my work schedule. I went back to stock after 2 weeks.

Someday I may have Vince work up an economy tune, but I am not sure I want to have the loss in power associated with it. I did ask about "select a tune" for the 1.8, but it seems as though there is not enough interest to warrant the time and cost associated with developing it. The explanation from Vince was fair enough for me. He does have a business to run afterall.

i was told by Vince that the gains are about 10-15hp or so. But, the throttle response is dramatically improved. I think that is just from the tune with no supporting mods? so maybe with an intake and an exhaust, around 25-30hp?

The 25-30hp is a guess but the 10-15 is coming from Vince in an email i received from him a few months back.

They seem to be great with changing the tune from the data log. I could find the loss to be quite annoying, but if it could be tweaked i wouldn't mind that much.

I did not notice a huge difference in throttle response, but once again that could be from the lack of a tweak to the tune.

I mean for $300 or less, depending on what the tune is going for atm, 25-30hp+ isn't that bad.

yeah this sure dont seem to encouraging if the tune dont do much for the 1.8L. I plan on getting my Custom Cat back exhaust done here in late february, early march. then once DDMworks brings out the 1.8 Intake i will buy and have that installed. then my plan is to save up and buy the tune. So id say late 2013-early 2014 i should have the tune if all goes well. Unless i can come across some extra cash before then. Then i will get it sooner. If anyone gets this and can get it tweaked right let all us 1.8 guys know. Id be happy with a decent increase. any kind of increase has to be better than stock. not that i feel stock is bad. i feel the 1.8 stock is pretty damn quick for having no turbo on it. Mine is at least. could only imagine what the tune would do.

I mean for all the support that the 1.4l is getting i would assume that if there are tweaks to be made, it would be good for the companies to give the 1.8 support too. Not bashing any companies, just saying if they would want the customers to stay around, they would give support for the 1.8s
