How was the throttle response? I know on idle in natural mine has like half sec delay

When I had the K&N Typhoon intake I felt a little boost in performance. I'm sure a tune would increase that.

Nearly immediate, and that's probably the most noticeable gain. But I don't know if that actually means it has 'more power' or if the car is just somehow reacting quicker to our commands. In the lower RPMs I seem to shift less to maintain or accelerate, so that's why I'm figuring there's been a nominal increase in HP or torque. Without a gauge I can't be sure.

I don't want to downplay the advantage of the tune - there is defintiely a benefit. Whether that benefit justifies the cost is up to each of us to decide. I feel I got my $380 worth. But it hasn't magically made my Sonic anything more than a Sonic running at its best.

It sounds like it's still worth it to me. Like I've said, I really only care about the throttle response. The slight lag and inconsistency in the pedal drives me nuts at times. Any power gains are just a bonus for me. Now that we know the 1.8 supposedly doesn't count flashes the only thing holding me back is money.

With the tune, is the small "dead zone" gone from the accelerator? Often times I go to toe in a tiny bit of gas and remember too late that the pedal doesn't really respond until pressed slightly farther in.

Yes, the pedal response has improved. I think I know what you're referring to (that mushy/uncertain quality), and along with overall throttle response, it does appear that the overall pedal response is more immediate than it had been.

although I'm still considering doing an intake. From what I gathered discussing this with a trusted friend 'in the biz', he feels the intake gains won't be enough to be justified and feels my greatest gain was with the K&N drop in and tune. That is definitely just his opinion, but he's more knowledgeable on the subject that I (and likely many of us). He also thinks I can get more from my stock setup by modifying the intake on the air box.

I am not going for performance and suspect that a WAI would net a decent bump in economy over the stock system. I may test this out this year.

im going for performance anf if they can tweak the tune for the 1.8's that would be wonderful.

^^ Im shooting for 50 MPG. After that has been achieved I will start to think about power. Warranty isnt up for another 82.5K miles, so no changes to drastic that will possibly result in major damage. Down the road I see a turbo in my future though.

we assume we have what 105 stock at the wheels? i made 119 tuned with a exhaust. i had a dyno that was posed to show stock vs tune but i realized when they printed the tune sheet they pulled both tuned pulls so i cant tell you what we make at wheels stock but thats what i made on the dyno

I asked in the BNR official tune thread if they have or can post the 1.8L tune results. They said in the second post they were going to but in the next couple pages I didn't see it (that thread is getting real long). Does anyone know what page those specs are posted?

There is no official numbers from a dyno last I knew as I'm the only 1.8 I know of tubed who dynoed and the dyno guy messed up the results

Mines been tuned for a bit over a week now. Definitly notice some throttle response. I can feel a bit more power and it seems to have a bit more torque. That plus the shorter shifter mod i did makes it feel like a race car lol.
