Some say a simple heavy-weight cloth 'hood' hanging over the firearm is 'concealed'. Think of a Crown Royal purple sack, but use something heavier and firmer, and not a CR sack.
My G36 fits in a convenient spot on the inner seat rail, upside down. A simple reach below the seat against the console.
But, I think it all depends on who you're answering to. Avoid getting pulled over, you won't have anyone to answer to. If you do, just hand over your CHL with your license, and the officer is usually more lenient... if you've been speeding or ran a stop sign or something, that I definitely did NOT do. At all. A few times.

My XdM 40 fits in the door cubby quite nicely, and that's good enough for me. I'm left handed so I can pick it up quickly if needed. I shoot primarily right handed, but the bad guys can't see me moving my left hand towards my firearm in the door panel if they're watching me reach for my wallet in the cup holder. I also carry concealed in California...legally 
Kudos for thinking outside the box, but there are too many people getting shot too quickly for unknown reasons these days and it's giving me a bad name...not gonna put myself in the same situation and be a statistic!
