It was only a few years ago when GM was getting bailouts of cash paid for by taxpayers and this is how they treat their customers...Easy to see why people switch brands.You should write them and your dealer a letter telling them of your dissapointment and how you will not buy another car from them again.

Where are you located? Sometimes that makes a difference in how regional reps treat things. I find it hard to believe that GM will not cover any of the consequential damages caused by your oil pump (a warranted item) failing. A good lawyer could probably beat them on this...
Despite all of this, I'd probably still take it to the dealer and pay them to fix it. If their diagnosis was wrong, that's on them - they need to fix it correctly once you pay what they quoted.

Im located in Northern Nevada (Reno). Im going to pay because i need my vehicle to get to work at this point. But i will definitely be looking into how to contact a consumer protection agency of some sort.
I honestly feel like the dealership was dishonest aboht the diagnostic to avoid it being labelled as a powertrain issue. Ill also try to get a different (but local) GM dealer to do a diagnostic without telling them the backstory. If they conclude a headgasket in fact blew, then i will contact GM about what i believe were dishonest actions taken by the dealership.
Make sure you put your repairs on your credit card and get their dispute department involved. Explain to them the nature of the repairs. They may be able to also get involved to give you some help.

Here is what I don’t understand.... the oil pump has zero to do with the coolant. If an oil pump fails it takes the bearings with it. Even then no coolant gets into the oil. Now these cars have a coolant/oil heat exchanger behind the exhaust manifold. Because of the pressure differences, if that leaks you get oil into the coolant, not the other way around (I had this happen).
The only way to get coolant into the oil is through a blown head gasket. These motors with low mileage (18-30k) are around $300-$500. I would opt for this route. I have never seen an oil pump fail under normal circumstances (not saying never)

Uh.......... this is 2018 and you own a 2012. Free lunches ended a while ago.
I'd be surprised if Hyundai covered more than 500$ for the same issues.
Water + oil, dealer has to replace oil pump as insurance because they're doing it right. I don't know of any mechanics who would do this for you to get your car running like new. I sure wouldn't have gone that extra mile.

2012 Chevy powertrain warranty was 5 years or 100k miles, whichever came first. Transferable but obsolete.

The head gasket issue really sucks, I feel for the OP. But I mean if dealer is offering 200$ off, and he can stay on good terms with the service advisors they might let him walk out with a free loaner car for a while.
Personally I'd not fight it and talk nice to em and get a free loaner which'd be what 200-600$ in rental car money? But I need to stop giving my opinions cuz :blankface:

A 6 year old car with 60k miles shouldn't need a head gasket at all, period. Mine went bad at 35k, that's been published on this forum extensively.
OP: I would fire up a letter to the CEO of General Motors (faxing it, not e-mailing it) and asking for resolution. Be persistent, do not give up. If you have to pay do that and ask for reimbursement.
