2012 Chevy Sonic LT Pricing

Hi Sonic club,

While I was looking for a 2012 used sonic with turbo, I was offered a deal by
One of the chevy dealer to purchase sonic for 15k + tax,tag,destination.
Used 2012 sonic are for sale around 13k with 40k miles.
Is it a best deal? How much shall I pay for it?

I am only looking for sonic with turbo as I had previously owned Acura Integra and I feel turbo is better for local roads for quick pickup and better mileage.

I had rented sonic for a week and I enjoyed driving it and I was lucky not to get a speeding ticket. Cop gave me warning ticket while I was speeding 15 miles over speed limit

Trade in value for the 2012 LT Turbo is $11k so $13k is not bad at all.

I paid $17400 for my 1.4 LT brand new.
Personally I'd rather spend $2K more to have a brand new car instead of a good chance of buying someone else's problems.

This is my preference aswell. BUT everyones financial decisions and priorities are different.

I also paid a similar price ad Chrisj for a similar/identical Sonic.


And ummm knowing the specifics is helpful for determining what a good price is...........................Did you know there is a $1000 difference in price in the exact same sonic with the only difference being a manual vs auto trans........... Or a $700 difference between the 1.8 and 1.4T........... Then there's the infotainment and cruise control options.

So yeah we need more info there's up to a ~$2000 price difference for a Sonic LT.

I paid $15,800 plus TTL for my brand new 2012 LT Turbo w/Connectivity package. I'm sure you can find a new turbo LT for not much more than a used one.

I don't see any major changes between 2012 and 2014 except Connectivity package is standard in all 2013 and 2014 LT's and blind spot mirrors.

The touch screen is only on '13 and up. However, I find the old-school radio to be much easier to use. '14 has optional back-up camera, but why you would need one on a subcompact is beyond me.

I have no idea if truecar is realistic or not (I have never purchased a new car - though I might in the next month or so).

That said, truecar is showing a cost of about $16,150 for a 2013 Sonic LTZ with Turbo right now. Of course, that is in my area (San Francisco). I noticed it was more expensive when I typed in the zip code where my parents live.

That seems like a pretty awesome price and makes it hard to consider getting a used car (and is one reason why I am so hell bent on getting a test drive to see whether I want to buy one).

That price is about right. You should test drive it and get a feel for the car. It's priced like an economy car, but equipped like a class above.

In retrospect I could have probably gotten a good deal on a new one for only a couple grand more out the door, but I was already at the edge of what I wanted to pay, and a car that was less than a year old with less than 10k miles and a local service history was "new enough" for me.

10 months and 9000 miles later, and I'm still very happy with my purchase.

I've done it before, doesn't mean anything is wrong with the car. I traded in a VW GTI with less than 8k miles because I wanted something else.

Absolutely.
However, that is the first thought that comes into my head and you know as well as I do its always a possibility with a used car. Especially one with low miles.

I bought a 2007 Mustang GT for $18k with 9k miles on it. After I found out it had been keyed on one side. But for the price, I didn't care. It was a great car and had no mechanical issues.
