The gauge pod came in. The color is no more off than the first gen pics I’ve seen. The outside shape is identical to the gen 2, and the texture is close enough to OEM that I doubt you’d ever notice the difference without them side by side.

The tweeter mounts differently, which is easy to fix, but the mounting clips will need some modification and trial and error adjustments. I think I can make it work without too much trouble though, and I’ll post the results if and when I can make it happen. Lots of pictures for anyone interested, but it won’t let me post them right now. I’ll try again later.

I wonder how hard it would be to track down a gen 1 tweeter to just drop in without modification. There is one at the wrecker in Calgary I could probably sniff around

I was planning to mount aftermarket tweeters anyway, so this is just incentive for me to go ahead and buy them. Haha!

I’ve also ordered my wheels:

They’re not going to be remaining matte black though. We’re trying a new product at our body shop, and my Sonic and wheels are going to be the guinea pigs. Stay tuned! [emoji41]

The gauge pod fitting is done. Very simple DIY fix. I used an aftermarket fastener to clip the very top in, and I just cut the two middle pins out. I was prepared to add some type of fasteners back in on the middle if needed, but it fits even more tightly than the stock one, so I’m not worried about it coming out. The bottom locks into the dash quite firmly. Now, time for color matching and gauge ordering.

Also, on closer inspection, the stock tweeter snaps right in. The factory uses a separate little ring that the tweeter snaps into, but the mold on the ZZP is made in the shape of that ring. Release the clips on the tweeter, snap it into the ZZP pod, and you’re done.

Nicely done!! Looks fantastic. Now I am torn....could go this way but also brewing up an alternative either snotrocket for a pod mount above the gauges.

I don’t have it in quite yet. I’m putting color on it today, and my gauges are on the way. Shouldn’t be but a few days and I’ll have some finished photos to post.

How did you find plumbing them all in? How long did it take?

Literally 30 seconds to run the wiring with the pillar out. There’s a little fuse panel cover to the bottom left of the steering wheel. Remove that, and you can see a straight shot from the OBD port to the top of the dash. Super easy.
