Does anyone have a photo of the factory cruise control switch ?
And a pin out ? I am thinking it probably has 3 or 4 pins ? One at 12 VDC + coming in & 3 12 VDC + " switch legs " going out for off / on , set and resume ?
If there are active electronics inside the switch , probably a 12 VDC - ground ? as an additional terminal ?

The dealer has to flash the computer to tell it that it now has cruise.

Hey guys I just got a 2015 LS without cruise control. I know you can now buy the GM accessory cruise control that is factory ran but the cheapest i have found it is $215 without install. It seems like they remove the old steering wheel and replace it with a new one with all the switches and wiring installed.
I was wondering if anyone has tried just installing the correct wiring harness and switch by opening up the steering wheel. I have found what i believe to be the correct harness and switch for less than 50 bucks. My thought is that the steering column already has the correct wiring and its just the steering wheel does not so you can move the air bag and replace the factory harness and blank with the switch and new harness then just pay a local dealership to program the car for cruise. Any thoughts?

Ok well quick follow up. I bought the switch and harness just to remove my air bag and find that where the switch goes is NOT a removable blank and is a part of the steering wheel itself so you have to swap steering wheels anyway.

Darn! I've been thinking of doing this. I guess I'll talk to the dealer about swapping steering wheels when I bring in my 2015 for service (oil change/tire rotation).

Well still trying to cheap on the CC of my LS model. After seeing the cheapest i could get the factory CC accessory part was about 280 shipped and finding from my dealer that anytime the plug in the computer for diagnosis or programming it a 128 charge that means the cheapest is i bit over 400. Well a quick ebay search found me a nicely used 2013 steering wheel with cc and audio control which all ready have for 70 shipped from LKQ. So after getting the steering wheel i found the harness from the 13 wheel and switches have different part numbers. It may have still worked but i dont know and sense i had the 15 switches and harness that should be correct i decided to switch the new switches and harness over to the old wheel and they fit without issue. Now i have wait until monday or tuesday to get the new parts programmed an see if this worked. If it does ill be in it for 260. So crossed fingers it works cause im about to take a 1000+ mile trip one way and i need CC something fierce.

just got that harness and the wheel controls. I also encountered the same problem that the steering wheel where the controls would go is rubber and not removable sadly. questing going in is am i able to cut away the rubber and use the current steering wheel?
29.99 for the harness from korea and $20 for the controls so not that bad of a setback. but looking into it i have a build date of 10/18/2011 so it was one of the first off the line it seems but the vin doesnt say that i will plug it in and see when i get the harness.
Edit: only 2 pins where the controls go. need the clock spring as well looking on the net to find one without spending over $100 along with a steering wheel. seems like the steering wheel goes for about $65 on ebay with controls so not too bad. radio is set needs to be put in and programed. so another 160 in parts and i should be good finally

On part numbers. Just came back from the dealer down the street. Found out that the part # now is universal at #22899138. I did go online and pulled a LTZ on auto trader and compared my car and the LTZ part numbers via the last 8 in their system and was the same part number for the cars.
Guy was super awesome as well. He grabbed the part in stock ironically. The part was about $120 so wanted to make sure it was correct from above. and he went in back and took a bit. He came back with engineering notes and gave me like $40 off said "sorry kept you waiting ill knock off some money for you" down to $80 i was like done. Honestly wasn't expecting that.
I now have everything I need to get the audio controls to work along with the CC just need a dealer that is willing to program it near Schaumburg/Elgin IL need to look into it.

Alright well 2 dealers so far wont do it. because of there isnt a kit to do it. It wont show up in the system that it can be done. I have a few more dealers in the area that could possibly do it. still looking

well GM TCSC and Customer Relations (whatever that is) are leaving it up to the dealers stupidly. Also seems if you dont have the RPO code K34 in the RPO list in the spare tire area it wont work. im super tempted to get a junk 2013 or higher sonic and get the BCM and just swap it and change the VIN if possible. not 100% sure if i can do that though. looking into it. as a last resort. im super frustrated with this. and i know it can be done because the only thing thats preventing it to be done os the newer clock-spring and the controls itself which i now have in the car but they still seem to be huffy about it. still looking into it though may have to hack into something and add it or get my brothers best friends dad to do this. and throw him a few hundred to do it.

alright got 2 updates for everyone. 1 sadly i was not able to contact anyone at GM to help me AT ALL. They all refer me to the dealer to ask if i can do it. so i give up on that part.
2nd update i was looking at the wiring of how it works. there are 2 wires that control the CC from the BCM. one on X3 and X5 so my plan when it gets brighter since its still dark out here in Chicago at 645a i will jump the 2 wires and se what happens. just for kicks and giggles. if it works it works if it fries something then well yeah lol but it seems only like there is signal going across the wires abut i will but a volt meter to each one and see what i get. hopefully this works and we can all say **** YOU to GM and them not supporting the 2012's out the gate.
