After work on door pillar, window won't roll up

A few months ago I had the black vinyl trim on the driver's door pillar repaired/replaced at the dealer (while the car was under warranty) because it was wrinkling the same day when I brought it home the driver's window would stop half way up and then would roll back down when I tried to close it, it eventually would roll up. It rolls up just fine more often than not, but I had the dealer look at it, and of course they couldn't duplicate it, but they reset it or something. However, my Sonic is now out of warranty and the window is still sporadically not wanting to roll up. Anyone else have this issue? Or have any ideas what might be wrong? Any chance it was from fixing the pillar pieces?

I don't think the vinyl extends past the bottom portion you see on the outside. Does the window roll up enough to see, but doesn't roll up all the way?

Either that vinyl is bunching, or pushing back enough the on window glass to make it stop and when it does...does it go back or just stop?

Might be a simple matter of spraying/ Q-Tipping some silicone lube into the window channel from the bottom part you can see up to the top...

It appears the window is reversing back down as it thinks something jammed it before it went all the way up.

You could try to disconnect the battery to reset the auto up/down. When you connect the battery you'll need to roll the window down then all the way back up. See if that takes care of it.

Try rolling it up but DO NOT use the auto up function. Just lift the window switch part way so you only engage the manual control and see what happens. If you pay attention you'll feel the switch has two positions in the up and down direction for the driver door.

What about weather? Did you notice if the problem goes away when it rains?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's feeling a blockage...and I'd bet it's that tape related...

Resetting the feature is a good idea too... a few times up and down sets it..
