Where in the world does this happen? Here in CA at least you have 90 + days before your court appearance... Or you can pay online and sign up for traffic school to avoid the points.

It also helps to have boobs... Just sayin'

In Connecticut. Got a ticket a few year back for "excessive acceleration" or some bs like that. Talked to the prosecuter and asked if I could make a charitable donation instead. He wanted to know why, so I told him I didn't want my insurance rates to go up. He let me "donate" the amount of the fine to some kind of injured correctionnal officers fund. No violations reported to insurance, and I even had a receipt from the donation to claim on my taxes that year

I hear that often when you go to court the charging officer doesn't show up (because most people don't show up to fight it, so it is a waste of his time), and then your charges get dropped, while if neither you or he shows up, or of course if you send in the fine with a guilty plea, you are found guilty. So you could go and gamble on him being a no-show...

I really need to get out of NY. Here in Suffolk county at least, if your pleading not guilty and the cop doesn't show up, you can ask for a dismissal after the 2nd no show if you have a lawyer, 3rd no show without a lawyer. I know I've done it.

I think the OP needs to find out what the rules are for his court. It seems there are way too many variations for him to get any good advice from us.

Ok my only problem is Alaska doesn't give you a court date. They just want you to pay the fine and be done. And little did I know if you want to fight you have to do it within the first 5 days it's been 6 for me now wonderful!!!
