anyone put bigger tires on yet?

i was wondering if anyone has figured out what the widest tires that can fit in the wheelwells without rubbing, ya know, for good grip. and i want to put taller ones on too because those huge wheelwells need to be filled out a little bit.

I have 225/45 on 17 by 7.5 inch wheels; tire looks to be almost an inch wider.
No rubbing. There is still space to be filled in the wheel well, but short of lowering I do not see an answer. One could test other sized tires but I for one did not want to have the ecu flashed to recognize a different circumference.

Hopefully the info is still on the chart, but here is a comparison in tire sizes. I compared all factory sizes, the 225/45/17.5's, and 225/50/16. Not much difference in the diameter. 225/45/17.5 show to spin almost 2% slower than the 15's, and 1.5% slower than the factory 205/50/17's. And the speedo at 60 mph would read about 1.2 mph slower than I would on my factory 15's. But tire dimensions are off by a mm or two depending on mfg. Now I am more confused than when I started!

Comparing the 15" OEM to the 225/45, one was 829 revolutions per mile and the other 832 revolutions per mile. 60 mph on OEM equaled 60.2 mph on my aftermarket setup.

245/40 would work and there are tires in that size. That would add about an inch and a half to OEM but would need at least an 8 inch wheel. And I would be concerned about tire rubbing.

Same here, which is why I have almost ruled out the 225/55/16's. But I am still gonna try for them. I have to go back and check #'s to see what your overall width is vs. the 225/55/16. On a glance do you think your tire/wheel set up would rub with a 1-1.5" drop??

Slightly bigger (3%) 3/4 inch would fill in the wheel well. If you are Trifecta tuned, he can do the flash or a dealer could but not sure what they charge.

Bigger diameter and minimal to moderate drop - I suspect rubbing would depend on the tire; only one way to know though. Do you have patient tire dealer?

Factory 16" Cruze wheels...nice and fat..fills in the wheel wells !
