Auto headlight sensor

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the auto headlight sensor. Seems the slightest shadow or smallest cloud passes and my headlights and instrument cluster lights go to night mode

It would be safer for you and your passengers with your lights always on.

It annoys me a bit as well, but not enough to actually do something about it.

It's very difficult to see the LCD screen (Fuel level, Speedo, etc) in daylight with the lighting system in night-mode.

Bump up the display brightness when it bumps down.

Just turn the light knob counterclockwise after you start the car and the DRLs go off and the sensor no longer has control over your lights so turn them off and on. You will then have to turn them on manually if you are driving and it gets dark.

Does anyone have the FSM? I'm thinking if I can figure out the resistances of when the sensor is on DRL vs full headlights, I could throw a resistor in the circuit to stop it from switching from DRL to full lights. I want it to only do DRL, no full headlights.

Figured it out. 1k ohm resistor will give the proper value to see daylight all the time. I absolutely hate automatic headlights. They'd dim my dash all the time. Plus, Now I can keep R2D2 flashing!

I fixed it don't worry . That pic was before I shaved it back down. I did use nylon pry tools though. Go figure.

Auto headlights, ON too often

I would like to make mine less particular, also. The Service Manual isn't going to help too much in designing a Fix.

The sensor module (B-10) generates a 0.2 to 4.9 volt signal depending upon the ambient light. I will attach two PDF pages, one a partial schematic, and the other a text page, if I can.
