And, no, that wouldn't work. Need 100% of air kept in system. This would just let you keep your light off another maybe 2-3 minutes.

That's why you could tune it into the computer. If the computer expects a certain amount of air to be dumped when you lift off the throttle, it could calculate proper fuel mixture and give you that whoosh sound!

Good word Danny5. Am I understanding this right. So, its a factory pre-set pressure (not the right #, but we'll say 10 psi) that needs to register off throttle, and the tune gives a different pressure value (lower or none at all).

The ECU knows how much air is in the system and expects it to be recirculated. If you change that amount of air by venting it, the ecu will still be adding fuel to match how much air was supposed to be there. This results in the engine running extremely rich, even to the point where it won't run at all

According to their website, it's free for minor mods like intake or exhaust, but it will be another $100 if it's something major like a bigger turbo or something like that.

Ok so I'm actually picking up my new Sonic Lt with the 1.4 lt. Turbo this Monday =] and I'm rly interested in installing a Blow Off valve to get that whooosh sound. This is my first Turbo vehicle and I wouldn't mind having some fun with it. So I been reading all the post I'm a little confused, If I find a Bov compatible with the Sonic it would not just be a simple install. I would have to take my Sonic to a mechanic to change the factory pre-sets??

You would have to change the whole exhaust manifolod, but if it is the whoosh sound you are looking forward you might consider one of the several after market intakes either currently available or very soon to be available.

In addition, there are reports on this site indicating removing part of the filter housing will work. If you are interested in an inexpensive mod such as this, search is your friend.

I thought the object of the BPV was to bleed off excess boost before it reaches the throttle body when you lift off the gas. How does it help if it is connected to the exhaust manifold? I know in some turbo set-ups the wastegaste is connected to the exhaust manifold to control boost levels, but I know that is not the case here. Here, I can see the actuator controlling a valve right on top of the turbo. I tried to trace the incoming charge tube between the intercooler output and throttle body but I could not find it.

My last Turbo car I built installed a greddy rs bov and if I remember correctly it was very close to the throttle body. I got pics if interested in seeing the location . I would love to be able to use my bov

The wastegate actuator connects to a little flapper on the hot side of the turbo and controls the airflow/boost, the BPV is on the cold side to bleed the pressure when the throttle plate slams shut while you're boosting.

With computer programming not being an issue, has anyone tried the Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Dual Port? I'm contemplating one, but I don't know if it'll bolt up. Help?
