A pick from harbor freight works great. Put the tip in the gap you see on his picture and pull with a steady force. Not a yank!

A pick works great, thats a good suggestion. I usually just tape these kind of clips over with a good amount of duct tape and pop em off with a screwdriver or needle nose. They'll fly 30 feet if not careful.

Well i have been trying to figure out how to remove the water line fitting bolt from the block all day--WITHOUT LUCK. I can't get a socket on it from either top or bottom ! Ideas ? g

Is that the one that's by the top of the engine? Near the charge pipe?

I believe I just used a crescent wrench. It was tricky, but its possible. When I get home I will take a look.

No . its comes out of the turbo center section on the back and goes to the left side of the block as your facing it. under exhaust manifold above the ac compressor. if you have not changed a turbo you probably dont even know its there. its a hose with metal ends and a banjo fitting and bolt on the end. I spent hours and still have not got a socket on it. g

I have swapped out the turbo probably 5 times, I am saying this because I have done it. Again, I will look when I get home.

Greg, I cant remember if I used a crescent or a socket, but it was obviously one of those. May have been a really shallow socket wrench.

I think I remember how my body was positioned to get it out....

With the car up in the air on stands. Lay down underneath the car. Head towards the front, feet towards the rear. Be on the driver side. Finagle your crescent/ socket up in there and play around till you get it. It was a pain in the *** the first time I did it, but it gets easier every time you do it.

x2 get it from underneath after everything is unbolted. Have a friend hold the turbo assembly or hang it with bailing wire/twine from your hood latch or somewhere in the engine bay Those lines have a little flex to them. Use a crescent or flare nut wrench should do it.
