But seriously, that is one heck of improvement just from cryoing the trans. Is that usual or is the M32 more susceptible to the freezing arts?

He also cryoed the diff carrier if I read that right.

I predict bearings will be the difficult find.

I would say keep us posted on your progress but we both know that goes without saying.

So this guy talks about the weak bearings of the M32, and offers upgraded one. I'll be contacting him to find out how I can get some.

So I've managed to get some dialog going about the M32.

It appears that many are running 400+ through them without issues.:banana:

And it doesn't seem like cryo freezing is common or necessary.

Again, heat seems to be the main adversary of the bearings, and most guys combat that by filling with 2.5-3liters of gear oil, instead of 2.

It also seems their consensus is that the M32 are just temperamental by design.
Some last a long time, while others just go out. They say its just a matter of keeping extra bearings on hand.

I'm still probing to find out where to buy these bearings.

Wouldn't the extra fluid just find its way out of the vent hole

Generally, a vent is just to prevent pressure build up in the case.

I ask that because the manuals I've worked on its damn near impossible to over fill because the oil will make its way out the vent. This also happened to me when I overfilled my f17 a little.

If it is on the top, you can always add a 3" tube, to solve that problem.

Is your vent on the side? In that case, a 90deg elbow and then a 3" tube.

Just gotta think outside the gearbox.

Lol, nice analogy. Mine is on top. And since I don't race mine I am not worried about having extra fluid, but if I where you, I would make a longer vent tube

Are you still planning on running a cooler? That should increase your capacity by at least another quart on top of "overfilling" the trans.

I'm still considering it.

The VXR guy said that the M32 gets up to temp, 265F, within 3-4mi of normal driving.

I spoke to Dave at DDMWORKS, and he said he has a connection on bearings.
We're looking into a stronger replacement.

Fortunately for those that don't plan to chase 300hp, the M32 should be fine, so long as you change the oil to synth, change it yearly, and top it off with 2.5-3 liters, and stay aware of bearing noise.

Speaking to the resident M32 Jedi on the VXR forums, it was suggested that maybe just my diff failed.

Laborsmith, do you recall if the LSD can be installed without removing the trans?
