Yes . . am aware of that.
FYI .. . there are the two solenoids that can cause his issue.
And each can start to fail . .. with NO error code and cause a hard start after fill up.

These purge solenoids also exhibit the same symptoms in many brands of cars and trucks the past several years. Not just Sonics.

Only after they usually fail completely will they usually set a code.

And I too have replaced the solenoids on our daughters 2014 Sonic.
We have two Sonics in the family.

I am aware of all of that as I own the same piece of **** car as well. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

You don’t need to tell me what’s gonna break as pretty much everything can and will no matter how much preventative maintenance you do. [emoji2373]

Mine only happened when the car was cold. Once it heated up, it quit doing it. I inspected the ignition coil. The place where the spring goes into the boot (plastic part) was cracked slightly. That's what caused the surging when cold in the morning. What did heated up, it expanded, and I didn't have the problem.
