Finding a dog sitter to come to my place to walk Jack 3 times a day is stressful. They will need to stay overnight, which I don't have an issue with. I need this for next week when I have to fly out for work.
I'll remove all my valuables from the place, and all my guns, electronics and other stuff can fit into a duffel bag; bike goes on the rack and all the stuff goes to a friend's house.
I might look like a crook myself, with a duffel bag full of guns and electronics.

I have two appointments set up with potential sitters - one today and one tomorrow. There were a few other candidates, but overall, pickings are slim.
Today's appointment is a young girl that can't be more than 20, but seems to have credible references and works as a vet tech.
Sigh. I have a friend that cannot sit Jack due to her work schedule, but she will be checking on the sitter every other day when I'm gone by going to my place and looking.
I don't know that I can trust a 20 year old to be responsible. I'm rambling, but I'd be much more comfortable leaving my apartment unlocked for a week while I travel than leaving Jack to a person I don't know.

Could be more dicey with adults.
You may be able to mold the teenager into what you want if you pay them good.
Then again............ Does Earth really need such a thing? You molding a teenager? Hmmm.

Aside from Eric's dirty mind, Chris has a point I've considered. The biggest concern is that the (mostly) women who do this, are either stay at home adults or teens/college kids. Stay at home women are...meh.
I met one who was huge (fat) and the house smelled like a dump. Chose not to leave my dog there. Met another one, who was obviously a heavy drinker. Passed on that, as well.
Worst case scenario, I'll make it work with my friend that's going to physically check on whichever sitter I get. She did actually offer to watch him, but she'd have to engage her brother to help her, due to the aforementioned odd work schedule she has.
The issue is that her brother works for me, and I'm a huge believer in team equality, meaning that I don't do anything for one team member that I don't do for all, and same applies to them. I don't accept any real or perceived favors of any sort, no matter how small.
In an emergency, I will have to, if my friend gets to the house early Tuesday and the dog's pooped and peed all over the place because sitter didn't show on Monday.afternoon and evening.

I deserved all of that except I think molasses-like.
Restoring and moving 400lb refrigerators and constantly working on a 150 year old house takes a pretty good amount of physical work.
Why do you think I have to eat so much to keep my weight up?
