Keep in mind, most people who own and operate cars are not "car people". And people who use microwave ovens are not "microwave oven people"

While not all people that own guns are 'gun people', owning guns is driven by an entirely different mindset and a set of interests as to, say, owning a microwave. While both are ultimately tools, there's no denying that the chances of a gun owner being a 'gun person' are substantially higher than a car owner being a 'car person'.

You don't need a gun in your daily life like you need a car (only a very small percentage of people actually need a gun), so, unless the firearms are inherited, chances are good that the gun owner is also a gun person.
