I hate ignorant and entitled drivers. Also, I admit that I sometimes contribute to road rage. It happens.
This morning on the way into the office. Two lanes going westbound. The right lane becomes a turn-only lane due to recent construction change. Left lane is straight-only.
I pull up in the middle of red, so there are cars stacked up in the left lane, which goes straight. Right lane, which turns right, is empty save for one car about 30 yards form the intersection sitting there with the left blinker on. She can't be let in because the cars in that lane are all stopped due to red light still on.
I pull up behind. Wait a bit. Beep-beep. No reaction. Again, a polite beep-beep. I need to turn and there are people behind me now that need to turn as well.
She honks back at me instead. I gave her a long honk. When cars started moving, some ghetto lady leaned out the window and shouted some expletives, called me a redneck mother effer. I laughed and she got madder.
My road rage contributions aside, this is what ticks me off. I understand that you have to go straight, but you don't need to hold up a bunch of cars because of that. We're all trying to get to work, no one likes the commute anyways, so make the right turn from the right lane, then make a left into the plaza, go through the plaza and onto the road where you needed to be in the first place? Is that so hard?
I don't know. I'm not the ideal driver out there, but I don't interfere with someone's pace/commute/traffic movement because of a mistake that I made. Same goes for people that cut through 4 lanes because they nearly missed their exit. Is courtesy that much to ask for?
