Diablosport inTune vs Trifecta - 2013 Sonic, 1.4 auto

OK, I've been on this particular forum feed a number of times, and keep hearing about how bad Trifecta is. I have the Trifecta Elite tune, and have had a few problems at first, (Cable was bad) but the last tune I got, the "Clutch Killer" is fantastic! I'm not sure what everyone is talking about with the throttle response, I have a 6 speed, and have no problem at all. I'll agree it may take some time for them to get back to you, but my wait was well worth it. I've kept with or passed a few WRX's with this tune, and consistently eat stock Mustangs (V8's!) Also, I've asked for more HP and Torque, and was informed that I had everything out of the motor with this tune, and anything else would torch the motor after a while. I LIKE the idea that they have you and your car in mind when they give you a tune. Anybody can give you a monster tune, but you car will suffer in the long run. Just saying, don't hammer on a company that IMHO has gone out of their way to make a customer happy, and made my little Sonic a beast!

I have been considering this for a while now. I like the idea that it doesn't 'take off' with just a touch of the gas, but I would it to at least have a little bit of a kick with less than full throttle.

Ok, I've thought long and hard about this, but I think I'm going to buy a Diablosport Intune to try it out.

The thing is, I'm not sure how long I am going to hold onto the Sonic...but...I have friends that drop $100-$200 in one night gambling at the Casino...so If I get the tuner and then trade the Sonic in down the road and try to resell the Intune...I'm still better off than they are.

Hopefully in a couple days I'll have a strong opinion on it to add to the forum. I'm pretty much stock right now.

They say there is always some risk... I'll share a recent story to help you out.

When running a tune you need to run premium fuel. I believe this is to avoid premature detonation. I haven't been using my car and I went one stage past the standard Diablo sport tune (bnr custom tune using Intune). My sister recently totaled her car and needed a temporary vehicle. I loaned her the sonic BUT forgot to mention it runs premium. She didn't mention that it felt sluggish... After I got it back I didn't realize what was wrong at first, when I thought about it I realized I didn't tell her. So I freak out. Thinking I've blown something up and I'm screwed... I send an email to jerry from bnr... The car detunes itself to save from being hurt. [emoji41] sounds pretty safe to me.... Just take it off before going to the dealer.

Boy, after all this reading (and the BNR tune thread) I have the biggest case of blue balls ever. Ordered the Intune i2 plus BNR kicker, loaded up the Diablo 93 and can't feel a thing unless you floor it... which is fastish even in a stock Sonic. REALLY hoping the BNR tune does me something or I would have rather shot $500 at a state fair playing ring toss or buy a new TV to smash it for fun. Seriously let down by the canned tune, fingers crossed I'll feel something with the custom. Sorry for the $.03 worth of gab. Only other mods are drop in filter and cat back. Thought ECM tune would be a big jump.

Try the 91 octane canned tune..that felt better to me despite using 93 octane..

Thanks for that. I'll try in am. Really hoping BNR wows me. There's no reason you need to get to 5,500 RPM to feel gains... I mean, yes I felt it starting to take flight there, but unless you're all open road, highway, drag strip, etc. that's not giving your ride any benefit day to day.

91 tune feels a lot punchier in the low range. Nice call. Anxious to receive my BNR custom tune made for the Sonic and my mods. Will report back on that thread!

So it's not just me that felt the 91 Diablo was better than the 93. Someone should really tell the diablosport folks..dont understand it.
