engine runs with key off

2014 Sonic LT 1.4 auto hatchback. 48K miles. Original owner. 100% stock with remote start. No aftermarket alarm.

Car starts and drives fine. When I turn off the ignition and remove the key the engine keeps running until I open the door. I checked every fuse and relay. No check engine light or trouble codes. If I turn the key off when the door is already open it shuts off normally.

Anyone familiar with this symptom?

Only 2 other quirks with the car:
1. The traction control button does not disable the traction control. At least the light does not pop up on the dash indicating that the traction control is off.
2. The door lock button on the driver's door doesn't work. The door lock button on the dash does work.

Not sure if any of these are related.

**UPDATE:
When the I turn the key off, other than the engine keeps running, everything else acts like the key is off - shifter locks and dash goes out.

I ran into the same problem where the engine wouldn't shut off a couple months ago with my 2012 Sonic LT 1.4. The problem turned out to be the remote start. Mine was aftermarket, though, installed by a previous owner. It's been fine since removing the remote starter.

If you have anything plugged into the OBD2 port, though, try unplugging that. It's a free and easy thing to try. I was getting all kinds of weird things happening when a wire broke in my UltraGauge. Unplugging it fixed the car instantly.

My remote start is a factory option. Nothing to disconnect. And I do not have anything plugged into the OBD2 port. I suspect there might be a problem with the remote start system or ignition switch. I tried disconnecting the battery and ECM overnight and that did not help.
