Custom Dead Pedal!

Well made my own dead pedal(cover) because I cant stand to put my shoes straight on carpet especially near white carpet. So its aluminum with skate board grip tape on it. Matches my GM aluminum pedals quite well. Bent it to fit factory contours and used a factory stud in upper left corner to mount. Its solid and should be great for road coursing as well. Im happy with it so I guess thats what matters.

Another solution is to buy the WeatherTech "Digital Fit" floor mats which have a dead-pedal cover built in...

That's a really good idea. The only negative with the WeatherTech is that it only covers the dead pedal about halfway up. The top half is still unprotected. If you use the dead pedal with the WeatherTech mat; debris will accumulate behind it, and the top portion of the carpet will still get worn.

^ exactly that and it will move around...mine aint going anywhere. And it matches my pedals And I already had GM rubber mats before anything aftermarket came out... And it didnt cost me a dime just a piece of scrap I had laying around

instead of adhesive could maybe use some Velcro affixed to a piece of rubber/mat to allow for removal and cleaning.

Exactly! I have some 4 inch wide sew on hook velcro that will do just the trick. Just need to hit wallyworld for the EPDM rubber.

Just installed my EPDM rubber piece with 4 inch hook velcro on the back. The velcro takes to the carpet like it should and doesn't move. If anyone needs some 4 inch hook, I have rolls of it.

That is another good idea; using the velcro in combination with the adhesive backed rubber tread.

I've bought 3 different kinds of Velcro and nothing seems to stick to the damn carpet. I think I'm going to do the 3m tape. Sounds good.

Are you using the stiff side? I'm using duragrip velcro. Shoot me a pm with your address and what length(within reason) of 4 inch hook you want and I will send you some.

I'm using the stiff side lol. It just seems to not be able to grab to the carpet for some stupid reason.

I could not find a rubber mat material like the original post. I did find an alternative I have found suitable, for me at least.

I use SuperSliders, furniture movers for hardwood flooring. They come in a package of two at Wal-Mart for just under $3 per package if I recall correctly. Anyway, the first set I purchased were really light in color, I wasn't totally sure what the interior color was and my color blindness doesn't help.

The 2nd set I purchased. To me, they looked like they were black in the package. I was wrong. But, whatever, they protect the carpet.

Darker color (certainly not black) stuck on.

Normal foot position in rest.

I only bought these because i couldn't find a rubberized solution. I do prefer a carpet-like solution though, so I may just keep using them, disposable and cheap as they are.

So I went to Walmart got the mats which came in a pack of 2 was 7.99 I think then got a knife to cut it down. Here is the after.

Yeah, even my wife's cx-9, which is automatic only, has a rubberized dead pedal
