Gauge pods for sale. For those of you looking for a more discrete look this seems to be the best solution. I have been using the pod in the center for a while and love the look. Easy viewing but not in your face. The drivers side has been test fitted by another member and he was pleased with the pod.
They are made out of either 1/2inch or 3/4inch plywood/1x4 and accommodate a 2-1/16" gauge (No Bigger)! Center is 3/4inch. Upper is 1/2 inch Ply. There is no screwing or drilling involved. The pod fits snug into its place. I will not be doing any painting. If for some reason you are needing a passenger side pod, let me know, it is no extra work/charge.
The center pod comes in three styles. It will either come to a V or it can be made to curve under that center point as shown. After a lot of work I now am doing an inlay in the center-curved pod. Stay posted for an inlay on the V-style pod.
The drivers side pod is fragile in the upper left portion of the pod and this is because of fitment. I do the best I can to leave as much wood as possible, but the size of the cubby is small. As long as you handle with care there should be no problem.
All units will be fitted in my sonic before shipped. An installation recommendation is leave a good five inches of slack in the wiring so you can pull the gauge out from the pod, disconnect the wiring harness, and then pull the pod out.
