Fixing chips in paint?

Today I botched getting out of a tight parking spot and scratched my car up good. The front bumper is unsightly, but I'm not overly worried about that because at least it won't rust. There are some chips in the pain on the body, however, that I would at least like to seal up so rust can't get in.

I'm not keen on taking it to a body shop and getting gauged price wise, but I'm also an idiot at DIY. Are there any idiot proof ways to repair this? I'm not too concerned about trying to return it to looking like new, I just want to make sure rust can't set in.

If you just want to prevent rust from setting in then all you have to do is pick off any loose paint and then cover any metal with your bottle of touch up paint.

Getting good results with body/paint repair is an art, if you're not good at it then keep the rust from setting in and save up to take it somewhere.

Okay. I know it's certainly not going to look beautiful, but I mainly don't want to have a rust problem later on. I can compromise with aesthetics.

I would do it buy going to the site below and get color matched paint, primer, and clear coat in the rattle pen for about $25. It'll give you the ease of accuracy, long term results, and an affordable price.
