Not true. I believe I saw preloader post in another thread that ddmworks has some, just not on their website. And I believe vt has something. I just saw the thread yesterday and they were talking about it.

As far as the 1.8 goes..... I haven't seen any options, but it isn't exactly on my radar.

And if the vendor just so happens to be trying to support our market, they may give you a sizable price break, as you would be helping them develop a marketable product.

That's my thoughts exactly. I have had several Hondas with 300 or over and it wasn't very hard to acheive those numbers.Now this may be a bit more expensive however just cause they are new and there's not that much out there yet. But like you said us 1.8 guys definitely need the advancement so if that's something I can help with i would be more than willing to.

Ya that set has been up on eBay for a couple months now. I have highly debated grabbing a set. In fact I was gonna pull the trigger next pay. Read it closely. It's per rod and piston. Not the whole set. (At least last time I saw it)

Since you came from the honda market you know how simple it was/is to push the B18 non vtec to 300whp. The main thing i see with the chevy 18 is the comp 10.5. That alone will keep you from boost past 8psi on a t3/T4.
The head gasket used is the weakest link from what I've seen from builds in the Euromarket seems like Opel uses 2mm gaskets on most engines so from my builds on honda engines a simple head gasket swap to one that lowered the comp from 9.5 to 9.2 will do better them swapping pistons. adding head studs to keep the head from lifting under high boost will be far cheaper then custom pistons and rods.
Some may say that's the wrong way to do things but it's the only way to find what works and what doesn't.

That's definitely another possibility for sure. Especially since there isn't a market for the forged pistons and rods yet. I don't think even with lowering the comp and addin head bolts I'd still be to comfortable running anything much over 10lbs. But 10lbs will be a huge overall improvement from the stock 138 hp these motors say they some with. Low to mid 200s will probably be the resulting numbers if i had my guess about things.
I mean I've made 275hp on 10Psi before but that was just about a fully built Ls/Vtec so I don't/won't expect those kinds of hp numbers without some in depth engine work and that's a little hard to do with a seemingly low number of aftermarket parts available right now.

U do kno that the 1.8 comes with FORGED CONNECTING RODS..? So all we need are the pistons

You DO realize that they are forged so that they can be smaller and lighter right?
You still need aftermarket rods...
The whole idea of the 1.8's Internal design is a light weight rotating assembly.

I do kno that. But just to start off they should be able to handle minimum boost pressure

I will never do just pistons and I feel your pain I'm a broke 23 year old lol but if I have to put off the build til I can afford both that's what I will do. Take apart the motor once insted of twice. And I don't want to run stock boost levels. If I'm doing it in doing it big and doing it the right way. Even if I'm only running 300-350hp I want my rods and pistons to safely support twice that. It's how I am how I will always be. I've melted stock b16 rods to a block before Bc I had my boost numbers wrong will never make that mistake again that's why I do things that way. Better safe then sorry and shelling out twice the money to but a whole new short block or worse. Long story short do it right Bc your only cheating yourself

Forged does not always mean it will hold a lot of power. My guess is that it is designed to hold somewhere around 125-150% stock power levels. I have not had a chance to compare it to a 1.4 rod, but I suspect the 1.4 rod is built a little more stout.
Having been there before, cheapening out on a build just costs more down the line. Been there too many times before.
