Umm.. an 18" FP-12 in lite-cast, and with that color combination is $256 (standard depth) or $276 (Forced Concave)

Technical specs aside, you're looking at about 3+ kg difference between a lite-cast and forged wheel.

Oh, no, i think you misunderstood.

The price I gave for the lite-cast IS with the black and blue combination you wanted.

Visually, either forged, or lite-cast wheels will look the same.

The price difference is for the making the wheel by casting vs forging methodology

Forged wheels are an order of magnitude more. The manufacturing techniques are worlds apart.

I'm tripping a little bit but ok. I knew forged were better, stronger, lighter so i went for that. Did not realize the price jump that went with that.

I want the light weight so I'll have to look at stock options. Have to think about this more.

To be honest, unless you are having a ride that is high performance being put to extremely rigorous use (eg. racing, tracking, etc) on a regular basis, there isn't that much justification for a forged wheel.

For a daily drive, there isn't much noticeable advantages of forged over cast, that is justifiable to its price jump.

That's just my own take as a consumer. (I'm more of an aesthetics kind of guy)

And for you, 2014 Blue RS, you'd still get that black and blue color combo you'd want in cast too

Song, is there any chance that FourPlay will offer the FP-4 in Lite-Cast Directionals in the future?

I really like those wheels, but I can't seem to justify spending over $2,000 for the same wheels that have been forged simply for spokes that will face the same direction on different sides of the car.

Yes, it's nit-picky. But since I am also more of an aesthetics guy and not a track-day warrior, it matters a lot to me. I'm not trying to come across as a cheapskate, but I'm also not a sponsored race driver with tons of cash to burn.

If FourPlay gives me the option to have Lite-Cast FP-4 rims in Directionals in the future, they are as good as bought. Sadly, the forged version just aren't anywhere near my price-range.

Essentially, 'Forced Concave' is a wheel that has an offset and width that wouldn't normally allow the spokes to form a concave surface because there wouldn't be enough distance between the hub and the fender.

As far as I understand, FourPlay's engineering/design team figured out a way to engineer a mild concave into these types of rims to give us that trendy concave look. The lower the offset number, the deeper the concave.

Their website has a picture of a VW (Jetta?) which has Forced Concave wheels:

As you can see, they are not an extreme concave, yet there is a noticeable difference.

Gotta ask. 17x7 or 18x18 what offset do you folks suggest? Sounds like 17s give the most concave effect.

Thinking black with blue accent or stock whatever and touch up paint to add the matching blue.

Thoughts?

I would go with a 17" with +35ET. That should provide a perfect setup...

The smaller the diameter of the wheel, the steeper the concave effect will appear. So a 17x7et+35 would be ideal.

An 18" rim would make the concave effect slightly more shallow, though the rim's overall wider width of 8" would offset this slightly...
