Front end clunk.

Ugggh my patience is disappearing. If there is one thing I can't stand it is creaks, little rattles and clunks and my car seems to be doing all three.
Specifically, the front end clunk over bumps (car only has 36,000 km on it) is still present after upgrading to Moog endlinks. It is actually quite bad. I have tried all the normal tire wiggling things at 12 and 6 and 3 and 9 etc. but I can't see any movement. Any ideas? I just spent $800 on new pirelli's and I don't want to get rid of the car but I am seriously considering it as my OCD is going nuts.

What sucks is I have that bad feeling that I will take it somewhere where they will say it is 5 different things, replace them all and the noise will still be present.

well...how old are the end links? did you put them on yourself? Are you sure the bolts are TIGHT?
also, and I can't see why this would be it.. the upper strut bar bolt is tight? 21mm I believe... that would be remarkable if it worked its way loose...

But I'd ensure the end links are tight. Jack front wheel up, then using another jack place it under the lower control arm of the suspension side where the wheel is up..

If you jack that second jack up a bit, is there a point where the end links begin to move freely?..

just a thought... I hate clunks and rattles too!

My car is in the shop right now for what I suspect to be strut mount related. Lots of clunking, even over the tiniest cracks in the road. I was also able to replicate the sound by jerking my steering wheel quickly left and right.

123,000 miles. This will be the first repair I've had to pay for since my warranty ended at 100,000.

So here's a video recording of the sound I was hearing before I took it into the shop. While holding my iphone down near the hood release lever, this was recorded while driving over a brick road to really enhance the rattling. The sound is coming from the driver's side.

I know this is an old thread, but just in case it might help someone else:

I had that suspension knock over bumps. Checked the shock mounts, end links, ball joint, and tie rod end, and found nothing. When I dropped the jack I just happened to notice movement at the rear of the control arm. Sure enough, the bushing was shot, even with only 70K miles. Got a new control arm from Ebay for $40. Took about 45 minutes to install.

Same. I just did my sway bar links and as soon as I started to test driver I heard popping/banging and while jacking/lowering noticed the rear of my control arm moving. Fixed and free of sound now.
