Front strut leaking?

So all of a sudden I have grease all over my rims. I look and I see grease on the bottom of the front drivers strut. When I changed my eibachs springs, the top hat came apart and I put it back together. Chance it might be from that? If so, where can I get a replacement drivers strut?

Grease? If its grease its probably from the cv joint. Look to see if the boot is torn.

Could the boot really be torn at 32k? Seems like it'd be too soon.

Felt the bottom of the boot and I think it is leaking a little. I'm under 36k, think the dealer would cover it even with my eibachs?

Guess I'll find out. Going in on Monday for them to redo the AC, smells like mildew. I'll have them take care of it then.

If they determine that the lowered ride height or installation of the springs caused the premature wear or the off chance that it was hit by road debris and opened up it will be coming out of your pocket. Hopefully they take care of you though.

stranger things have happened than a cv failing at 32k.

About the mildew.
Not just in Sonics.
The trick to avoid this is to turn off the A/C about a minute or two before shutting off the engine. This will pump the condensation out of the system thus preventing mildew.

Will remember. Its been like this since the day we got it, but the lady has been driving it till now.

Its definitely the boot. Small hole. Not very big at all but its flinging grease all over. We'll see Monday if the dealer will surprise me. I bought the gm extended warranty AND I'm still under bumper to bumper, we'll see if they can get me taken care of so I can have a new "go-to" dealer.

About the mildew.
Not just in Sonics.
The trick to avoid this is to turn off the A/C about a minute or two before shutting off the engine. This will pump the condensation out of the system thus preventing mildew.

I'm really surprised GM hasn't done something about this yet. Back in the '90s GM had a kit that we would install on cars when customers complained about the mildew smell from the AC. The kit consisted of a spray to kill the mildew on the AC evaporator and a relay that turned the blower motor on high for a few minutes after the car was turned off. That dried the evaporator off to prevent mildew from coming back.

Update: dealer didn't even ask me about my springs and is replacing the front axle as we speak.

Also, there's a module that does exactly what blue hedgehog mentioned, runs the fan. They ordered that for me. They also replaced my key.

I went to a new dealer this time and they've got a new customer for life. Best customer service I've gotten from GM thus far.
