Here are some pictures of the fuel pump/housing we have in our Sonics.
They are almost identical to the pump assemblies in the gen5 Camaros. I have been trying to verify part numbers on the pump to see if that it's the same, but haven't been able to find that info yet. If it is the same pump, a BAP should be able to get us more than enough fuel for all but the most radical set ups. In the Camaros, this combo is good for over 500whp with moderate boost pressure (<15psi).
This set up encapsulates the fuel pump. It is always surrounded by fuel. The pressure regulator returns fuel directly into this "cup".
Here it is
Removing the pump requires opening the assembly up, by releasing several tabs and pulling up.
There is a pump retainer that also holds the filter sock onto the pump. One you remove that, the pump will come out a bit. There are tubes attached to the pump that will not let you remove it completely without severing them.
Here is the pump.
It's tiny, but it's a vane pump which is very effective at moving a large volume of fluid for a given size.
Here you can see inside the cup.
Hopefully I'll have the boost a pump on the car by the end of the weekend. I'll let you guys know how it does.
