GM Factory Sunglass Holder

Was snooping around in other country's OEM websites and noticed there is a sunglass holder where the grab handle is. Being that I never use the grab handle on in the driver's position, I tracked down the sunglass holder from an overseas supplier. Now that I have the part # (shown) maybe it is available in the US, I haven't checked. Anyway, it's pretty straight forward install but here we go:

STEP 0.
Buy This.

STEP 1.
Open this little cover with a screwdriver (x2).

STEP 2.
Remove this bolt with an 8mm socket (x2).

STEP 3.
Pull! There are two push in connectors (christmas trees) that will pull out.

STEP 3.1.
Notice the new piece has them too.

STEP 4.
Install new bolts with 8mm socket and close the covers.

STEP 5.
Put your sunglasses in there so your GF doesn't sit on them.

Fits pretty well but doesn't sit totally flat in the front upper corner on my car because of the sunroof. You can see this in the first picture. Would probably sit flush on a non sunroof car.

Unfortunately, I do like to use the handle while driving. Not as an "Oh s--t" handle, but just because I like to sit my arm on the window, and hold that. Not sure why, just always have.

My '09 Aveo had that stock. Could probably grab one at the wrecker if someone wanted one quick and easy.

seems to be symmetrical so if you wanted one on the PS, it would work there as well...

I snagged two white sunglass visor clips at goodwill for a buck, and they're working awesome. One for my glasses and one for my sunglasses. I dig it.

ordered two. thanks for the info, this will keep me from tossing my glasses into the passenger seat and having to retrieve them after they bounce and end up between the seat and the door.

In 2005 I saw an Aveo in the show room that had this. I went to the parts department, ordered one and when it came in, I installed it in my 2002 Daewoo Lanos. Now that I have my 2012 Sonic, I moved it from the Lanos into the Sonic. The plastic color is *almost* the same (-very- slightly darker) and no one will notice unless they really look closely in direct sunlight (so no one will ever notice). It's been a great item and I recommend them to anyone who needs a safe place to put glasses.

Please note: The existing screw holes in the Aveo holder are a little closer together than the holes in the Sonic. I used an electric drill with a 1/4" drill bit to make the round holes oval in an outward direction to allow more spacing between. After it's screwed back on, it fits and looks like a factory installed item.

I have a sonic from south america (european aveo configuration) and it has the glass holder and it fits perfectly with the sunrrof, it's a bit bigger than the one of the pics.

I just installed one of these on the drivers side. I wish it were a little deeper to accommodate my Oakley Flak Jacket or Gascan sunglasses. I haven't tried yet but my Frogskins or Wayfarers may fit since they are a lower profile. In the end if I can't get my sunglasses to fit, I can use it to hold other stuff.

Ordered one today from my dealer was shipped from michigan warehouse so I should get in 3 Days was $13 part number 95460117.

I understand that the Part Number is a: 95460117 but my local dealer can only verify that it is a “Compartment”

So why does the one photo show a bag with the number: 95048934 which when searched, comes up as an “invalid” GM part Number?

In the meantime, I took off both my Sonic’s and Encore’s and they appear to be the very same….. May buy (4) units.

They're nice - color matches, spring loaded, foam lined. Only issue I have is with some glasses (like my wrap around biker glasses) - the compartment does not close all the way because the glasses are kinda huge when folded.

Was it worth the ~$50 for 4 units shipping included - (Encore & Sonic) yeah I guess so, just haven’t used them much yet – not that I ever grabbed the handle either
