Moderators: Please sticky when you get a chance.
I and others have made many references to GMConnects. Earlier today one of the Founder/Administrators posted the following when responding to a question about the service the site provides, and I am copying it here because I believe this summary will help understanding. As far as I know, what these Volunteers do is unique to GM, and I for one definitely appreciate their efforts.
Therefore, without further ado: "Norm, we are just like you... GM customers. We all ordered Camaro's back in 08/09 and found that there was a huge void of information regarding our orders. So Hylton and I decided to try and find a source for some information...information that our dealers simply would not get for us or would make us feel like pests for asking for. It led us to GM North America and some folks at Corporate that understood what we were saying. One such individual really took a chance with us by providing us some info on a select group of cars we were trying to track. Soon it was seen as a huge success and became an official experiment at GM. More and more folks were seeking information and as our service grew our need to automate also grew. One of the folks we helped track his Camaro happened to own a server farm in Florida and offered us some help. Well the rest is becoming history. Now after tracking some 35,000 customers cars we are still growing. 100% volunteer staffed. No advertisements, no spam and of course no income. This is part of the deal. The data belongs to GM and part of the reason we continue to get the data is that we are not selling it. The data belongs to the shareholders of GM. But there is something special knowing that we do provide a service that helps so many people. We all have day jobs as well but do what we can to be here and help get answers and help others to better understand the process. Larry"
Thank You GM Connects.
