Sent the gun back to be re-coated to see if it could be done whiter because of the cream color coming through on the slide. Found out from the guy cerakoting it that the hardner for it is cream colored and is mainly for gloss so he used 15-1 not 20-1 and should be back to me Thursday whiter and flatter!! :banana:
Just in time for me to pick up some elusive 9mm when I am in Ormond Beach and out to the range with some friends to see how it holds up.

Alright, so I think I'm going to cerakote the slide of my M&P Shield. If I want a balance of quality and best price locally, $80 is what it's going to cost me just for the slide.
So, looking for color suggestions for the slide job.

I figured they gave me a good deal but $80 for just slide isn't to bad to know it will not pit or rust on you anymore. I think that coyote would look great with a black grip or even titanium slide with black grip.
What piece are you coating and I can look up some pics for ya to see how it may look one way or the other?
Here is the color chart for Cerakote if you haven't seen it yet, sure they have some new ones also but these are the most used colors.

Lol I know they are, just felt like messing with ya a bit. I'd just go coyote or titanium then maybe a dark grey hell even get it done black and keep it simple but with better protection for the metal.

So, I have dropped off my M&P Shield slide to get ceracoted today. The local guy here got great reviews and said that there's a good chance he can get it all done today and I pick it up after work.
Worst case, I get it back early next week.
All in all, I hope the ceracote finish will hold up much better than the factory finish, which started pitting on me and the pits got worse once it began.

Can't even compare a blued finish to a properly done cerakote finish, its like comparing a Sonic to a Ferrari. You will not be disappointed, one question though does the guy use air or oven cure cerakote?? Oven is much better and cures to a harder smoother finish.

Hopefully Tapatalk doesn't screw up the quality so you can zoom in. Here are pics of the pitting.
The second photo was taken a few days after the first and there is more pitting and oxidyzing going on. You can see the pits at the slide edges on top and front.

That looks like from being in a wet holster all day from sweat, not to bad though. I have a friend who has that alien acid sweat and he can not even IWB carry because it will rust a gun in a day
