Heating & A\C fan

The fan (which is behind the glove box) is on it's way out. I was wondering how much of a pain is it to get the fan out. Also does the fan detach from the rest of the system?
When I start the car the fan won't start and I need to tap it or touch the fan for it to kick in.

I drive a 2012 H/B.

So, is the heating & A\C fan housing similar between the Sonic and Cruz? I found a walk through the the Cruz sight.

From everything I've read on here, it's a beyotch to get to and there's not much room to work around it. Not 100% sure if it detaches but I don't think it does, not easily at least.
