Hello, Deciding between Sonic and Impreza!

You know, a Sonic website may not be the best place for unbiased opinions... 
Another thing to consider, since you are looking at the Turbo model. Upgraded Sonic vs. base Impreza. People will ask, what motor you got. Say you have a turbo, and they smile. Says its N/A and they walk away.
+1 to Sonic.
Reliability is yet to be determined in the Sonic. If you really want to keep a car 15years, the only proven choice will be the Impreza.

Thanks. Been a long time member on NASIOC and people bring up these questions all the time, the, "Should I go with non-Subaru X or the WRX?" and get flamed for it all the time...lol Gotta love NASIOC...I just like reading what people have to say (good and bad) generally about their Sonics.
Regarding the turbo vs non-turbo, you're so right. A turbo car is just so much more attractive, unless it's a Juke...ha My last car and current car I am driving now are both turbo, but at least I won't have people asking me where the turbo button is if I do end up getting the Impreza
Well, so after deliberating everything and turning over every rock and pebble, I went with this car...
Yes, it's not a turbo and even worse, it's a CVT (aaahhhh!), I feel the Impreza was the right choice for me. However, I'll always admire the Sonic and will always throw up the deuce when I see one on the road. Thanks everyone for the comments.

I can't stand the CVT either, I'll just learn to get use it
It's definitely loud when accelerating, but I came from a WRX with the SPT exhaust and the DSG GTI which a nice exhaust note so it doesn't really bother me. Also, the engine does quiet down a lot once at cruising speed. Really though, it's not that bad, much better than the CVT used in the Suzuki SX4 and the first gen CVT engines in the outbacks. The elastic feel is much better.It'd be awesome if Subaru went the route that Chevy did with the Sonic in putting a smaller engine with a turbo. Maybe go with the 1.8 and turbo??? It'd be awesome. Hopefully Chevy will someday put the 1.8L with turbo into the Sonic RS. How badass would that be?!?!?

Nice car. I was really impressed with the Impreza. Hopefully the new WRX and STI are killers.

If I somehow magically get a huge raise in the near future, I would definitely pick up the Sonic with the 1.4 :banana: turbo. Finally saw a topaz blue metallic pass by today and it was a thing of beauty. Have only seen three here in SoCal. One ice metallic, the other a cyber grey, and the topaz blue. The owner of the cyber grey probably thought I was going to steal his car as it was parked and I was scoping it out real hard...lol Just told him I was in the market for one and hadn't seen one on the road before until his and we just chatted for awhile. He definitely loves his Sonic and was thinking about a tune in the near future.

If I was going to buy a new Subbie I would have bought the BRZ because that car would have OWNED the Sonic all day every day! But I want to have normal car insurance rates so I have had my Sonic for over one month now
