So everybody I've visited Frys Electronics and Best Buy. Fry's Electronics has the SAC while Best Buy and has the HERO3. I think I've seen the HERO2 (don't know about HERO3) at Target. Both cameras have a car mount available. One thing that is cool about the HERO3 after looking at it is that is has a case to supposedly cut down on wind noise. I've heard many people tell me the regular GoPro has trouble with wind noise. But supposedly this HERO3 comes with a water proof housing/holder that supposedly will cut down wind noise. The SAC also has the same type of thing too. I really live the HERO3 Black Edition because it comes with a higher frame rate and 4,000HD pixels at the most. Not that I'm a pro photographer or filmographer but that's kind of cool. It also has a remote to control the camera which can be activated using the wi fi in the camera.
This is a really cool feature because I could have the camera attached to the roof of my car and then turn it on to recording or not without having to roll down my window and climb to the roof of the car like in Fast Five...lol.
Though the white and silver edition tops out at 1080HD pixels compared to the Black Edition both come with wi fi and the water casing but the black comes with the remote. Though all three models are wi fi compatible with the GoPro app that you can download for free
The SAC has a wi fi and a non wi fi model similar to the GoPros but all three of the GoPros have wi fi. The SAC can use wi fi app on your phone to activate the camera as well using the SAC app. According to some people on YouTube they have had better luck with filming in low light environments with the SAC compared to the GoPros. Though the HERO3 Black has a 'Pro Low Light Performance' for filming in low light environments.
Just for fun I read the reviews on Sony's website about the SAC and many people are complaining that the mounts can't hold the weight of the camera. As well as the sound is horrible when placed inside the case because it goes from recording some sound to no sound. Also people are saying that the app doesn't work properly with the SAC. Many people are saying that the app needs to be updated to actually connect using wi fi. If the app is having trouble then you can't record using the app. People are saying that even using the helmet strap you can hear if you hit the record button or the stop button when its in the case. As well as saying they can't change any of the settings when its in the case.
On GoPros website most of the reviews are all 5 out of 5 stars. I think I'm going to go with the GoPro but I'm going to take one more look at both cameras in person before I make a decision. One thing that may be to my advantage is Black Friday coming up. I don't like crowds and I don't think many people are out on Black Friday just to buy a GoPro but I could be wrong.
I really like what the Silver and Black Edition have available to purchase but they are really expensive. If you include the car mount $29 + the Black Edition ($399) you're looking at a lot of money just for a camera! I know its awesome but that's expensive! But I've never bought a camcorder before so maybe that is reasonably priced. The Silver Edition is $100 cheaper ($299) because it doesn't have the remote but I may not need that because I can use my smartphone app to control the camera.
Like I said earlier I'm going to think about this a little more and then make a decision.
