Hopefully Trump will win and they'll keep producing in the USA. Just an opinion. I do agree they could produce it cheaper. Honestly, why not drop the spark and produce the base line sonic cheaper? I mean you've got the spark, then sonic, then cruze, which really competes with the sonic.
We got a 2016 sonic LT sedan in October or so. It just went in last week for the first oil change at 7500 miles as the owners manual said to do. They gave us a Cruze to drive for a day. Honestly, I like the styling and feeling of the sonic better. To me the sonic is like driving a jr bmw with the way it looks in front. The Cruze was almost blah. Plus the cruze you almost had to step down into the car, then up out of it. The sonic seemed easier to get in and out of.
To get a better idea, put it this way. Yes, I know it seems like we are made of money, but not the case lol. We sold a 2000 Taurus with nearly 200k about this time last year and had bought a 2013 ford focus. Then the motor in our 2006 dodge stratus broke the crank. No more dodge in the family.
Anyway, we have a 2013 focus that really competes with a cruze. The sonic vs the focus honestly is a decent matchup. Owning both cars, I can say it feels like the sonic has nearly the space of a focus. The things I like about the focus better, it is slightly wider in the seats but not terribly so. Headrests are way better. And the power even for the SE model is much better than the 1.8 in the sonic. That said, I drove the Cruze for a little bit, just for an evening. I was happy to get back in my focus the next morning. It was not like stepping down into the car it was like sliding into the car. I think cruze vs focus, gotta think focus is a better ride for sure. I like the sonic, but the focus is a fun ride. But the sonic does hold it's own. It would be nice if they could make the sonic with a base 1.8 engine, but give you the option of like a 2.0 or 2.2 turbo for say 200hp. That would be fun. Sonic vs focus though, I like both equally. The sonic has a great styling up front that just grabs you, and there aren't a lot of them around.
Almost would be cool if they'd give the sonic tail lights similar to the cobalt, the rounded type.
