How to do "Tire Learn" after tire rotation

Are you guys serious? This isn't a matter of someone being too lazy or not knowing how to manually check their tire pressure. We are talking about the car's tire monitoring system and how we can check it on our smartphones if we want to. Does everything need to be described in detail?

A lowtire is a low tire... Who cares what position it is in.... What if your wife had them rotated somewhere and the positions was off when she borrowed the car... Thats the point the vehicle itself will not tell you what tire and I can program the car backwards and it will show the lr in the right front. The car has no clue except the order the tech used to program its learned location... Really its just a warning system.... No offence to anyone but dont trust onstar to tell you at an accuracy of 100% that the LF is low and you check it and it is fine.... Thats the point!

Or if you ask laborsmith, OnStar will send black Tahoes to your house and guys in suits will break in and tell you.

Me too. They still send the mileage service checkpoints. Or whatever they call it. Or you can log online and it shows a calendar or something. My memory is a little hazy.

there should be a book somewhere from hankook about your tires and when to rotate them, if not its in the book. 6K maybe? Either way, the more often you rotate the more balanced your wear, good rule of thumb is before and after winter...because doing it yourself in the winter sucks.

Yeah think of it this way, the more you rotate the longer your tires will last. My dad made some giant knobbies last a long time on his lifted Excursion.

You will get different reading in several ways...

1st off is the gauge you are using calibrated....
2nd is the actual calibration of the sensor equal to the gauge being used...
3rd Tires when set any specific temp will change about to 2 lbs when fully warmed Full when setting cold with no ambeint temp change.
4th when ambient temp drops from the set temp, the psi in the tire will Drop about 1 to 2 lbs every 10 degrees of ambient temp change.

Most tires unless preforming a burnout take 8 to 12 miles of driving to become fully warmed up...

rotation is every 7500 in the owners manual. Personaly, I rotate them every 5K when I change the oil.

to rotate your tires yourself you need a freakin $70 tool to reset the TPMS light!!!?? WTF??

and dealers will charge you to reset it? do any independent tire shops have similar tools that will work?

edit: also, what happens if you take off your wheels and run tires without TPMS for a weekend and then put back on the original wheels (with TPMS) in the same location. will the TPMS light go away?

Just don't reset it. All the tires have the same-ish PSI and no the dealer will do it for free. I don't even ask them and they do it every service.

That's not how it works. The light will be off if you don't relearn the tires. If you use the app or get the OnStar maintenance email the tire pressures won't jive with which location they are in. That's all.

What tool do you need to register the TPMS sensors on a set of snows if you want to swap wheels for the winter?

In my opinion this whole TPMS goverment mandated stuff stinks.

I also read that that feature was disabled on the 2012 models. Just another avenue to direct vehicle owners back to the dealerships for service, or to sell Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor Activation Tools to us DIY guys.

My 2012 Has the tire learn. I just hold the clear reset button until it bees twice then it will flash the turn signal on each corner to let the air out until it beeps again...

Took my Sonic to the dealer for a tire rotation and told them to do the tire learn thing and they didn't do anything about it whatever its not that important anyways.
