There's not much as you think
At that's solved with moving air flow going through through the engine bay itself
Most of the on rushing air gets pushed up
It has to greatly fight the flow to gow downward into that pocket
You're going to get a small low pressure area and a vortex
Nothing more

While on that topic
Hood scoops *cough cough* Subaru *cough* are quite inefficient and detrimental to aero and drag
You want smooth and cohesive airflow through the engine bay and as much of it as possible going up over the body
Not shoveling it into the engine bay creating even a higher air pressure there
And making your cooling overall less effective
Now of they turned that hood scoop around
Much much better aero setup

To be effective they have to be high enough to grab the air or far forward enough to be a lower profile. I tested a few designs on a different car and I saw no results until I made the scoop 3" tall. Then at around 70 mph the force almost lifted the scoop off the hood. So I added bolts to hold it down in the center. Do subarus have smaller inlets for the radiator? maybe they feel less in at the nose makes up for the scoop?

First off, that's a Ford Focus.
Second, those are vents, *not* scoops. What I was pointing out is the low pressure area is just past the headlamps. Llia is right, the pressure is higher at the base of the windshield and lower just after the air turns up to flow over the hood, or in this case the headlamps.
That's why the NASCAR boys use the area at the base of the windshield for carburetor inlet air.

There's so much talk about rain or water getting in through hood vents and the potential for damage. Listen up. I've had 3 cars now that have had hood vents. 2 of then were Evo VIII's. Engines run hot enough under the hood that any rain falling through such a small vent is being evaporated pretty quickly. Even if your car is parked over night and it's pouring rain, by the time you start your car and drive it to work it will be completely dry. I live in Ohio and it gets pretty cold here and I've never had a problem with having a good vent in the winter either. It's all nonsense.

exactly why i didn't cut... The layout shown was a little too close to the hood release and I didn't want to spend another 1.5 hours mocking up the higher location. Day off is Thursday so probably get r done thenDefinitely don't rush. Patience and steady hands save time and money
