Jeez I was not trying to start an argument. The board thing comes down to how long the foods are mixed and at what temps. You're right, the veggies not being cooked at the right temp IS a problem, but so can cooking allthethings in the same pan at too low of heat for too long. If you're bringing them all up to a good temperature pretty quickly, you don't run any risk. If you cook them at a low temp just until they are done, you likely haven't gotten it to temp for long enough to kill everything you just created a nice breeding environment for. This is why your food in the crock pot is "done" well before you are able to take it out and safely eat it. It's got to be at the right temperature for the kind of bacteria you are cooking for the right amount of time to kill it all off.
In this case, is it going to be a big deal since he got it all to boiling for what was probably enough time? Nope. Is it a good habit to keep the meat separate anyway? Yep.
For the record: when I cook meat and veggies in a dish like this, I cook the meat to temp, then add the veggies to cook. Rice and noodles are cooked separately and added last minute.
For the MORE record (lol): I was just handing out some good-natured ribbing ffs, not a debate on food safety.
