FYI - I looked into this and it ends up being approx 1.75" ID when you cut back the rubber hose enough and the angle is a little weird going from the stock rubber to the intercooler we are testing. So it can be done if you insert a 1.75" tube into the stock rubber hoses, then get a reducing coupler to go from the 1.75" to the intercooler. The angle is not off by much, but a slight bend in the hard connector between the 2 would work also and probably make it work. The hard tubes we are using in the intercooler kit are all 2" FYI.

So now you are opting to do all hard tubes? iirc, on an earlier post you said you were doing all silicone with just the hard charge tube. Hmmm I may want to just wait for all hard tubes. I guess the intercooler is going on my list!

Can you tell us the size of the inner cooler your testing? Length, height, depth.

Any idea of what kind of pressure is lost with the bigger core? It looks like it is a bar and plate design? is that correct?

And lastly, I know a lot of people want hard piping all around, but would it be better to do more silicon since it does not retain heat like aluminum would.

Understandable, a nice polished aluminum pipe does look better than black silicon.

Nope, since the the intercoolers we are testing are larger then the stock intercooler

We are just working through all of the available options for everyone. The plan is to have the silicone work and also have a hard tube option.

We have not finalized the dimensions yet of the intercooler and have tested a couple different sizes. The one that we have on there now is about as big as practical.

We are doing testing on the intercooler setups this week and will have some numberes later in the week on the ones we are testing.

The intercoolers we are testing right now are bar and plate, although we will also have an extruded core option available.

As for the silicone - The absolute best setup would be aluminum from turbo to intercooler since the charged air is hotter then the engine bay, some heat could be radiated to the engine bay (although the time it spends in that charge tube is so little that this is almost a theoretical debate), then have the silicone from the intercooler back to the engine to insulate the charge from picking up any heat from the engine bay.

My guess right now would be that really both setups would perform about the same in real world testing - full silicone or full alumium tubing, just comes down to a personal preference.

This is the latest prototype intercooler, shrouding and tubing that we are going to start testing next week. I will get some logs of the runs and see how it does. Basically this is as large of an intercooler you can fit between the bumper and the bottom of the car and it is as wide as the grill opening, should do the job nicely

No pricing yet, have to make sure all of this will work, then will have some pricing, but should be in the $400-500 range for the intercooler, charge tubes, silicone connectors, T-bolt clamps and shrouding.

Great. I may just end up parting with some of my money over this one. Hey, when you do finalize the dimensions, could you post up a picture of the new intercooler next to the stock unit? Very nice!

Why would you spend the money/effort to just change the flywheel. If your gonna go through all that, the clutch should be changed as well.

If you dont mind me asking who makes your cores? or do you buy them as a whole already with end tanks? Can you do black couplers instead of blue? If I got a kit I would powdercoat the pipes black as to not draw attention when taking it to the dealer for an oil change.

The cores will be built by 2 different companies, depending on which core we go with and which options we go with. One company makes the bar and plate and one company makes the higher priced extruded cores.

The tubes will be available in the standard colors we offer (Black, Red, etc) Also the silicone will be available in Black, Red and Blue.
