Moving threads...

Little irked by some threads that were moved.

Posted up a leaking battery issue in the owners forum (it applies according to the forum description...particularly since TSB and recall info is found here) but it was moved specifically to the 1.4 section. I think this could be an issue that extends beyond just the 1.4.

Also posted up a thread on bug removal which was moved to "exterior modifications". Not sure how detailing and exterior maintenance qualifies as an exterior modification.

The exterior mod section is for ANY topic pertaining to the exterior of the car. Plain and simple.

And as for the battery problem, you have a 1.4 engine, which is why it was moved there. If the problem occurs in 1.8 engines and an OFFICIAL recall is issued, then it would go to the recall section. One person having what is probably a very isolated issue isn't a recall.

The problem is the forum descriptions are either broad, repeated, or vague. I think I posted my bug thread under General Discussion because there isn't a specific forum for car care/cleaning/detailing/etc. It was moved to External Modifications. Read the description. Car care/cleaning/detailing/etc doesn't fit in that category. This reads as though it is for just that...modifications (body kits, etc).

The battery issue isn't a 1.4 engine issue. Perhaps I should have posted it under General Discussion since there really isn't a technical area for general issues, but given the description under the Chevy Sonic Owners Forum it would fit there as well.

I'm not starting to create an issue but this isn't my first rodeo for forums. Most are crystal clear on what goes where but that isn't the case here.

Focaljet is an example of many out there with clear cut forums. Again, not bashing the site, just offering some suggestions to improve the site and cut down on work for you moderators .

I have had similar problems. The site you linked seemed better organized but I noticed an awful lot of threads that began with language asking the mods to move to the proper thread if necessary, so apparently no matter how well organized a forum is there are problems.

Funny, my thread about the 1.4 coolant temperature got moved out of the 1.4 forum and merged with a thread in the general forum about a "hot smell".
