Seriously though, I just got tired of it. It's the only reason I got rid of my first Sonic and it would be stupid to get another manual and spend beaucoup coin on mods only to tire of the thing after a while and not be completely happy. Again.
After I get my car, Walker, if I can help by bringing it to you for measurements or something I might be up for a little road trip to the 'Ham in exchange for a deal on Auto DRS #1. I like to gamble on the MS coast so I could make it a twofer. That or I could help with funds to rent a Turbo/Auto Sonic if it helps the development.

**** you Miami traffic. I'll have to be back down there again Mon and Tues and am dreading the one mile drive from the hotel to the office in Doral.
I travel all over the country (and outside the US). I hate dealing with Miami more than any other place. Between the tourists, Cuban Princesses on their phones and anyone from South America that has never seen a stop sign, traffic signal or turn indicator that place is fuqued up....

I drive 52 miles a day from greater West palm to Miami. I leave 2 hours early to beat the traffic in the mornings, but for me the afternoon is hell. I've taken over 4 hours to get home in December near Christmas.

Just installed the DRS with Scarabepic22 and it was not very hard at all. Had to drill 3 holes and use a file to shorten the gap between the holes slightly so that the bolts connect the aluminum arm to the transmission without cross threading but other than that it was easy.
I took it for a 5 mile drive and it's immediately noticeable, @1100rpm it has a wicked vibration and after that it's smooth. Driving feels so much better. I haven't tried a hard launch yet but it's still worth the price so far.

As soon as I modified the lower trans mount by putting a hard piece of rubber in the gap it has, I noticed that same1k-1.1k vibration. It's not terrible, but noticeable, leaving a stop. However, in reverse its much more pronounced and will sometimes rattle the dash.
It's weird how the mount seems to concentrate all the vibes at that specific rpm and then they're gone.

Pulled the TTR mount out last night. Almost all the vibrations went away. No more monster vibes at 1100, like mentioned above. The vibrations left are only slightly more than TTR alone (only noticeable if you compare it to stock).
Let's say the TTR mount cut drive train movement to a quarter of stock. I'd say the movement with DRS is roughly 3/4 that with the TTR, movement wise. The driving effect is better though, IMO, as the rate of the movement has changed so that I'm not getting double bounces when clutching quickly, if that makes sense.
Stock: drive train rocks back and forth a bunch anytime you change power. Squishy and indirect.
TTR: movement reduced, but the intensity of the movement seems to bounce a couple times if you drop the clutch too fast. (that's what drove me to purchase DRS). Much much better feeling than stock, but not the performance option. Very slight vibration at low rpm, only noticeable if you know to look for them. I recommend this for everyone, as it is how the car should be from the factory!
DRS: the everyday performance option. Movement is lessened a bit, but feels much better to me. Vibrations are noticeable at low rpm, but only just to let you know it's there. Not a turnoff at all, not even enough to bother a baby. More engine sound above 4k, very nice (you're flooring it anyway!). Higher price tag, but worth it!
TTR and DRS: almost no engine movement. Harder to install, since neither mount wants to give any. Vibration peak at 1100 rpm, annoying vibrations below about 1400. Engine feels like it's lugging up to about 2k in fourth and above gears when temp drops below 45f. Zero wheel hop, much fun. Lots more engine sound above 4k. Hardly noticeable between 2k and 4k. Not for everyone. I think the stiffness/tension from install actually tightened up my front end/steering.
I think I would like to try the DRS with a softer bushing and a slightly longer hole in the steel along with the TTR again so I don't have to install with so much tension. Just the DRS seems to be perfect for my normal driving though!

If I were to buy a TTR lower trans mount and sent you my OEM one for the automatic's, would you be willing to make them?
Willing to make what exactly? A lower rear trans mount?

I just had a derp moment right there. Forgive my ignorance. Forgot there was no stock front mount there. Anyways, it would be nice to have a stiffer rear mount that doesn't send as many vibrations as the TTR mounts.
Stiffer means vibes. You can't change that. That said, the vibes from the TTR mount are really almost nothing. Definitely don't shy away from it just because vibes are mentioned. They are mentioned because they are there, not because they have annoyed anyone.
I'm sticking with the fact that I prefer the DRS+stock, though.

The market is full of rears trans mount options already, and some of them are extremely nice pieces. I'm not doing cat-backs for the same reason.

Hey guys. Just got done helping BSD (Corey) install this on his car. It wasn't too bad to install at all. Now I haven't driven his car lately so I have no comparison, but seeing his grin, he was definitely impressed. I think he is still out there driving the Deutsch roads! I might have to get one for my car now too.

I found the adding of the DRS to be a subtle improvement. I have the TTR upper/lower so the effect would be less than stock upper/lower but it is still noticeable. Didn't have any major problems fitting but did have to jack up the trans a little bit to get everything lined up. My TTR mounts were broken in over 5k miles ago so that might have something to do with it.
Aside from the obvious more-connected feeling I noticed a major difference in handling. On hard turns the car seems to body roll some more but remain more stable. (hard to describe). Stopping also feels more direct with less overall weight transfer.
One really odd thing is I feel like my ride height is higher, as if the tension with all the mounts is holding the car up an inch or so. The best way to describe it would be when you jack your car up with the brake on and afterwards the car is sitting higher when you lower it back down until you release the break and roll forward.
I'm going to give it a week or so then crawl under there and loosen/tighten the main bolt on the DRS and check the TTR mount to see if that helps things.

I'm not sure how the addition of the DRS could cause what you're experiencing other than the more connected feel of the drivetrain. Ride height, and body roll could in no way have been affected by the addition of an engine mount, but me saying that doesn't mean your impressions are wrong. Thanks for taking the time to write about them.
I think this is due to less slop in the cradle, and while it's not directly tied to the steering; the engine shifting during cornering could affect the steering feel without actually changing the steering.
When I installed a similar product (Stiffy ETD) in a different vehicle, my engine noise increased significantly, as there was now an anchor tying the engine directly to the firewall. This made it sound much more aggressive because NVH was increased, but that was a side-effect of the new mounting point; not an intended design of the piece.
Does that make sense?
