Mustacheless Grille

[Beastlick]

Will be prototyping this grill over the winter. DIY Mod-Kits might be available in spring if I can get the cost down.

Seriously now, if I could get that in pure black I would order right now. Our existing chrome strips, I assume, could be reused, yes?

The part I'm making would more than likely be machine out of a black ABS plastic. It would require you to cut out the stock grill and mustache and glue this one in its place. This would allow the stock clips to mount back onto the car. ABS is paint-able so colors and clear coats could be added.

Have you checked the airflow of those vents? I bet they could be raked a bit less and still hide the bumper but give better flow

It would also be great if you could do the trim around it too, so it'd be just a straight swap

I could include the trim but I only have access to machined parts. Adding the depth of the tabs would be an extra inch of material. I'm trying to figure out a way to reduce the cost while getting the result so many people are desiring. Simplifying it down to a grille with a flange attached keeps the cost of manufacturing down with a thinner piece of raw material.

That's exactly what I'm doing. I found a used take offs for 40$ on ebay for a full set. If you are interested, this would be the cheapest way I could offer a complete "swap". I"m only doing this for the sonic community and have no intentions of going into production. The mustache is the only ugly portion of this car in my mind. I think the RS grill looks great and really compliments the car. It sucks that from what I can tell, it wouldn't be a direct swap for any non-RS vehicles.
